Feb 15, 2016

Regretfully, Joseph "Butchie" Alves III passed away at home with his extended family in Maine on Jan. 23.

Butchie was the son of the late Patricia Sequira-Alves-Harris, of Wareham, and Joseph "Duke" Alves, of Sandwich, who were truly loved by their communities. He was married to Pamela J. Branford-Alves, of Annapolis, Maryland, and was also the father of Joey and Tenika Alves, of Virginia, and Ashley Alves of Wareham.

Butchie leaves behind stepmothers Gloria Alves, of Southington, Connecticut, and Debra Alves, of Maine, and his most treasured Aunt Beverly "Broadway" Lima, of Buzzards Bay. His three beautiful sisters, Cheryl M. Alves-Bell-Chester, of Wareham, LoriAnn-Alves-Fields, of Los Angeles, California, Janice Viera of Southington, Connecticut, along with his many nieces, nephews and cousins loved him quite dearly.

Butchie graduated from Sandwich High School and was also honorably discharged from the United States Army. His accolades include rifle sharpshooting and diligent service for our beloved country. He had so many friends who loved his sense of humor and thought process. He always had something to bring to the table that wasn't considered before. He was an accomplished singer and comedian, and was also well-versed in electrical engineering and a great friend to all.

The formal services will be held in the spring and all of his loved ones will be notified promptly. His loving and caring family including Cheryl, Lori, Dale, and his nephew Lovell "LJ" Johnson will miss him dearly.
