WAREHAM – Joseph Vieira Cardoso, 52, of Wareham, died at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston on Monday, November 13, 2023 after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.

Born in Wareham, he was the son of Angelina (Vieira) Cardoso and the late Jose Cardoso.  In 1989 Joe graduated from Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School.  After graduation, he worked as an apprentice with his older brother Luiz Cardoso for Spotlight Plumbing.

Joe later owned his own plumbing business and lived with his wife Kristen (Barrett) Cardoso in Sandwich for 18 years before moving back to Wareham.  Joe enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, kayaking, walking his dog and he was a great cook!  Joe was a very generous, kind, hard-working person who loved his family and friends.  Joe’s sense of fun and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  He was truly “One of A Kind” in the best way possible.  He will be missed forever.

Survivors include his mother, Angelina (Vieira) Cardoso of Wareham; his brothers, Daniel Cardoso and his wife Julie Anne (Casey) Cardoso of Sagamore Beach and Nelson Cardoso of Pocasset; many nieces and nephews and Kristen (Barrett) Cardoso of Cape Coral, FL.  Joseph was predeceased by his father, the late Jose Cardoso and his siblings, the late Adelberto Vieira Cardoso, Luiz Vieira Cardoso and Marcia (Cardoso) Regan.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 2 – 5 PM.  His funeral will be held on Monday, November 20^th from the funeral home at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 10 AM.  Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham.
