Lance E. Howlett, 71

Lance E. Howlett, 71, of Wareham, died Nov. 7, 2021, at Tobey Hospital.  He was the husband of Karen (Hunter) Howlett and the son of the late Barbara M. (Murphy) Howlett.

He was born in Boston and lived in Wareham all his life.  He graduated from Wareham High School, Southeastern Massachusetts University and Bridgewater State College where he received a master’s degree in Education.

Mr. Howlett was a Health Education Teacher at Wareham High School.  He worked in the school system for 31 years before retiring in 2011.  He also worked for 13 years at Gillette Stadium. 

Mr. Howlett was a long time softball, freshman basketball and football coach in Wareham. He trained softball pitchers throughout the state.  He also coached girls softball at Johnson & Wales University and was the original coach of the Wareham Tigers during their first year.

Survivors include his wife, Karen (Hunter) Howlett; three nieces, one nephew; 6 stepchildren and 8 grandchildren. 

Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – WAREHAM, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham.

His funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Center Cemetery.
