West Wareham-Laura (Thomas) Ames, 101, wife of the late Elmer F. Ames passed away at home with her family at her side on Friday October 25, 2024.  She was born in Middleborough the daughter of the late Bradford S. and Louise M. (Kelley) Thomas.

A retired Supervisor and Manager from New England Tel and Tel now Verizon.  She was the first women to pass the companies lineman pole climbing test.  A late member of the Pioneers of America, Wareham Emblem Club (Past President), Friends Club, Redmen / Pocahontas of Wareham. She enjoyed Knitting, sewing and cards.  A world traveler, she visited all fifty states, all 7 Continents and backpacked Alaska at the age of 70.

She was the mother of Beverly L. Ames of Wareham, Bradford Ames and his wife Ellen of W. Wareham, Barbara Garant of W. Wareham.  Mother in-law of Ronald Bethel of TX.  Grandmother of Louise, George, Steffanie, Brett, Brian, Scott, Karl, Kara, Kristen, Holli, Michelle, Holly and Tracy.  Great Grandmother of 22, Great Great Grandmother of 9 and her fur baby “Zoey”.  She was also survived by many loving relatives and friends.

Mother of the late Clifton Ames. Ella-Marie Bethel, Grandmother of the late Bradford Joubert, sister of the late Bradford S. Thomas Jr. and  Mother-in-law of the late Richard Garant.
