Lazy Lobsters race through the rain
It's a good thing lobsters can swim.
It was a wet and wild affair Sunday morning for the third annual Lazy Lobster 5 mile/10 mile road race. Nearly 300 runners from all over New England braved the stormy conditions for Sunday's race, which benefitted Myteam Triumph-Massachusetts.
Myteam Triumph is an athletic ride-along program created for children, teens, adults, and veterans with disabilities who would normally not be able to experience endurance events such as triathlons or road races.
Both races began at Decas Elementary School and continued down Main Street before looping onto County Road and Fearing Hill Road before finishing at Decas Elementary.
The winner of the 5 mile race was Michael DiTocco, of Pembroke, who finished the race in 30 minutes and 16 seconds. The first finisher from Wareham was Alexander Moulding, who finished eighth in a time of 36:53.
The winner of the 10 mile race was David Lusignan, of Woodstock, Connecticut, who finished in 60 minutes and 24 seconds. The first finisher from Wareham in the 10 mile race was Carolee Burgess, who ran 1:30:09 to finish 36th overall.
