Leave your pawprint: Dog park creative contest now accepting submissions
Got a creative bone in your body? Don’t just bury it like our four-legged friends: Participate in the Dog Park Association of Wareham’s Unleash the PAWsibilities Area Youth Creative Contests.
The Association is accepting submissions from now until Sunday, Aug. 4. There are both visual and literary arts contests, which are both open to area students from five to 16 years old. Students can enter both contests.
The themes for this year’s contest are: From the beaches to the bogs, celebrating creatures great and small, and life is better with a pet pal.
The submissions will be judged by area residents in art and literary fields. There will be winners in each category for three age groups, and all those who submit work are entered into a prize pool rally.
A family celebration will be hosted by the Gleason Family YMCA on Friday, Aug. 16. Trophies and raffle prizes will be awarded at the celebration; you need not be present to win.
A gallery with all the submissions will be at the Wareham Post Office in September.
Submission sites are Wareham Free Library, Gleason Family YMCA, Onset Bay Association, and TD Bank, Wareham. Check their websites for hours of operation. Contest details, contest tips and registration forms at warehamdogpark.org. If you are unable to print the registration form, include the requested information on the back of the submission. Submission sites also have registration forms. Direct any questions to sammorrison@comcast.net.
