Letter to the Editor: Congratulations to the Fire Academy recruits
I would like to congratulate not only the recruits but, all members of Class 125.
The commitment to the training is not an easy one because unlike a full-time academy these recruits have jobs and lives that continue and they still were able to navigate 2 nights a week and weekend. This training helps them build a foundation that they build on as they progress as a Call Firefighter.
All the members of the department are proud of their accomplishments and look forward to having them as part of our team. This is first time since the Call/Volunteer Recruit Program the class graduated the same number of recruits they started with of 40 students.
Our own FF recruit Ryan Fahey was given the Martin H. McNamara Award for outstanding recruit in the program. This award was based on recommendation from the instructor cadre based on both academic and practical skill applications. FF Fahey is the 3rd Wareham firefighter to attend Call/Volunteer Recruit Program over the years that was given this award.
Thank you,
Assistant Fire Chief Patrick Haskell
