Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 18th to celebrate the birthday of the Wareham Free Library.
It's hard to believe 25 years have passed since the building at 59 Marion Road opened its doors. Join the Staff, Friends, Foundation members and Trustees in celebrating this wonderful library and the wonderful service it has provided the citizens of Wareham since the doors opened on May 6, 1991.
Then Director Mary Jane Pillsbury and her staff, along with a group of dedicated Friends and volunteers, took books from the shelves at the Tobey Library on High Street, boxed them, transported and re-shelved them in the new library to be ready for the hundreds of residents who celebrated the grand opening that day.
The Library has continued to give quality service to the many patrons who use the library. Currently, more than 14,000 residents hold library cards!!
Activities including games and stories for children begin at 11 am to noon. From noon to1 pm, enjoy birthday cake and beverages. Then from 1 to 2:30 pm, listen to the beautiful sounds of the New England Irish Harp Orchestra.
