Lindsey's excited to celebrate restaurant week
Restaurant week is arriving in Wareham, and Wareham's own Lindsey's Family Restaurant is hoping customers will come in and try some old fashioned Yankee dinners and seafood bisque.
"We like people to come in, … it gives people the chance to try some homemade onion rings and gluten free scallops and haddock…I thought the idea was great," said Mary Labonte, general manager of Lindsey's who has worked at the restaurant for 25 years.
Restaurant week will be held in South Coast cities and towns from Wareham to Fall River from June 15 to June 24.
Food aficionados will be able to eat a two-course lunch at Lindsey's for $12.12 or a three-course dinner for $20.12. Lindsey's Family Restaurant is located at 3138 Cranberry Highway and is the only restaurant in Wareham participating. Mezza Luna in Buzzards Bay is the next-closest restaurant participating.
Dinners at the remaining participating restaurants throughout the South Coast will be either $20.12 or $30.12. Restaurant patrons will also receive a coupon for 15% off to use after the week is over at any of the restaurant week establishments. The coupon is valid for two months.
Labonte said she hopes that customers who come in will learn that Lindsey's has a wide range of meals to satisfy the soul.
"I just hope that people realize that there really is something at Lindsey's for everybody, that it's not just seafood," said Labonte.
Promoting awareness of local menus is the whole point of restaurant week, said Todd Philie, the senior marketing consultant for the Spectrum Marketing Group, the company that, along with supporting sponsor Greater New Bedford Chamber of Commerce, is coordinating Southcoast Restaurant Week.
"The biggest thing is for people to be able to go out and try area restaurants that they have always wanted to try and maybe thought were too pricey," said Philie. "It's giving people a chance to explore ... and get a chance to taste some of the restaurants we do offer in the South Coast region."
Participating restaurants will donate a portion of Restaurant Week sales to the United Way's Greater New Bedford Hunger Commission. The Hunger Commission is responsible for managing Emergency Food and Shelter Program funding for Bristol County.
Raising money for charity is one of the the goals of restaurant week, in addition to giving people the chance to try new food. The third goal is to bring business into local restaurants.
Labonte said she thinks that the week will be a success for the participating restaurants.
"I think definitely it will bring people to the area to try new restaurants, and hopefully come back," she said. "It's a great deal. It's a great deal for dinner, a great deal for lunch."
