Littleton Drive apartment complex approved by Zoning Board of Appeals

Jan 18, 2021

The Zoning Board of Appeals approved the 93-unit Littleton Drive housing complex at its Jan. 13 meeting.

The development has yet to be approved by the Conservation Commission, which will be discussing it at the board’s Jan. 20 meeting.

And it’s likely to come back before the Zoning Board.

“We really want to be a good neighbor,” said  Charlie Adams, the regional vice president of Pennrose.

The Littleton Drive complex would include 44 affordable one-bedroom senior units and 49 non-age restricted rental units for families and people in the workforce. In past presentations, Adams said many of the project’s non-age restricted units would also be affordable housing for those below a certain income level, while others would be at or near market price.

Adams said that his team has set up a group with neighbors to keep them informed about the project’s progress and the impacts of construction on the neighborhood.
If Pennrose wishes to make substantive changes to the proposal, it will need to come back before the Zoning Board. The team might also come back of its own accord to get the board’s opinion on a topic.

Over the months, the group has developed an extensive plan to manage and treat stormwater, and it plans to install a grinder pump which would grind up waste in the wastewater to hopefully prevent items like wipes from clogging sewer pumps.

The sewerage for the development has not yet been allocated. Pennrose representatives spoke to the Sewer Commission for the first time on Jan. 14.

The development was approved with only Jacob Morris voting no.
