Local businesses and business people were honored at the recent Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce Annual Breakfast Meeting and Award Ceremony on Jan. 21 at the Brookside Club in Bourne.

Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank was the Business of the Year recipient and Dorothy Savarese, chairman, president and CEO, received a certificate of appreciation from State Sen. Vinny deMacedo.

Beth Russell, President of SERVPRO of Upper Cape Cod and The Islands, received the Mentor of the Year Award from Rick Hollis, owner of C.L. Hollis Insurance Agency and Marie Oliva, president and CEO of the Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber.

Also, five new directors were appointed to the Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors and Connie Turgeon, branch manager of Eastern Bank in East Wareham, was appointed chair of the board.
