Wareham’s Sharon Frank received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Old Colony Elder Services for over 4,000 hours of volunteering in a lifetime.

The organization is a private, non-profit agency that aims to serve older adults and individuals with disabilities. It is also a National President’s Volunteer Service Award certifying organization, which honors volunteers who stand out to recognize their impact.

Frank is a board member of the Council on Aging where she has been an active member since 2014.

She cites a Casino Night fundraiser and getting a director for the council as some of her and the board’s best work.

Regarding the award, Frank said, “I think it's a validation not only for my work, but for all of us who started out way back when there really wasn't any board for [the Council on Aging] for a number of reasons.”

She added, “All of us stepped up. Some of us are no longer here. Some of us are now doing other things, but we put in countless hours to make sure that Wareham had a Council on Aging, and it was active and moving along.

Frank said, “So this award is not just for me — it's for all of us.”

Volunteer Program Manager Armindo Rocha and Volunteer Coordinator Cidalia America hosted an appreciation luncheon at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston, Massachusetts, where the award ceremony was held.

The organization presented awards to 22 volunteers, including Frank.

"We recognize and thank all of our generous volunteers for their tremendous dedication to helping others in our community and making the world a better place,” said Nicole Long, CEO of OCES.
