Lorraine H. (Egger) Madonna, 85, crossed the rainbow on Monday, Oct. 26, 2020, after a long illness with her loving family by her side. Born in Brockton on Feb. 19, 1935, she was the daughter of the late John H., Jr. and Gertrude M (Cobb) Egger.

Lorraine was a 1954 graduate of Brockton High School and a graduate of Chandler School for Woman while she resided in Brockton. In 1959 she moved to Lakeville, where she raised her family. She was a former secretary at the Cardinal Cushing General Hospital for many years. In 1998, she moved to her parent’s cottage in Onset. She loved hosting a 4th of July gathering at the cottage every year.

Lorraine was an avid reader who enjoyed Hallmark movies, Animal Planet, the Discovery Channel, doing word search puzzles, Dairy Queen, shopping, trying out new restaurants, Puff tissues, saving coupons and articles for other people and jokes on popsicles sticks. She also loved baking, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary (Madonna) LaFountain and her late husband Roger of East Freetown; three sons, Arthur Madonna Jr. and his wife Amy of Lakeville, Anthony Madonna of Lakeville and Ft. Myers, FL, and Mark Madonna Sr. and his wife Marie of Raynham; eight grandchildren, Jason, Brian, Rachel, Tony, Mark Jr., Alisha, Arthur III “AJ” and her favorite, Megan; fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was the sister of the late John Egger III and Walter Egger.

Her services have been concluded in the care of the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lorraine’s honor may be made to Beacon Hospice, an Amedisys Company, 182 North Main Street, Fall River, MA 02720.
