A man driving an off-road vehicle was arrested after punching a house and smashing a window on Saturday morning.

At about 1 a.m., police responded to Plymouth Ave. where they were told a man had driven a “Gator” off-road vehicle onto the property and began punching the side of the house and breaking a window. The victim attempted to confront the man, but he accelerated the vehicle at them, forcing them to jump out of the way. The man fled the scene.

Officers went to 213 Park Ave. to speak with the suspect, identified as Alexander J. Clarke, 22. The vehicle was in the yard, but no one answered the door.

At about 3 a.m., Sergeant Herbert Noble went to the home and was confronted by Clarke, who police describe as being hostile and belligerent. Clarke resisted his arrest before being handcuffed.

Clarke was charged with reckless operation of a recreational vehicle, assault with a dangerous weapon, vandalism of property, trespassing with a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest.

Clarke was bailed out of police headquarters pending a future court appearance.
