Jul 6, 2022

Marjorie M. (Pierce) Fitzgerald, 94, of Wareham died Monday, July 4, 2022, at All American Assisted Living in Wareham.

A beautiful life!

Marjorie’s life was a life of caring, compassion, and helping others. Everyone she encountered had a lasting memory of this vivid woman who loved life and those around her. She set an example for all of us; she never complained and always looked on the bright side. Even at the end, her contagious optimism and humor shined bright. When asked if she was OK, knowing she was not, she said “I’m fine.” Marjorie had a beautiful life, that is her legacy and we will miss her.

Born in Taunton, Marjorie received her bachelor's degree in nursing and worked as a registered nurse for Tobey Hospital and the former Roland Thatcher Nursing Home in Wareham. After retirement Marjorie continued to give. She co-founded and tirelessly volunteered for Damien’s Place Food Pantry.

Marjorie was the daughter of the late Laura (Silvia) and Wilson Pierce. She was the wife of the late Raymond F. Fitzgerald. Survivors include her son, Brian F. Fitzgerald and his wife Dawn of Sharon; her daughter, Judith A. Bump and her husband Carl of Plymouth; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Her funeral will be from Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham on Tues., July 12, 2022 at 11 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, Onset at 12 noon.  Interment will follow in Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne.  Visiting hours will be Mon. from 5 to 7 p.m, at the funeral home.
