Memorial Day ceremonies by the Veterans Council
The Veterans Council will be holding Memorial Day ceremonies at Wareham cemeteries and Town Hall on Monday, May 28.
The services will include a chairman who will place a wreath to honor deceased veterans, a chaplain who will say a prayer, and a bugler who will play "Taps."
The council will start off at Centre Cemetery at 8 a.m., followed by St. Patrick's Cemetery, the Wareham Town Green, the Agawam Cemetery, Dudley Brown Square in Onset, and Onset Bluffs. Veterans memorials exist at the Wareham Town Green and in Onset Bluffs.
At 10:30 a.m., the Council will visit Bessie Park where the chairman throw a wreath into the water to honor deceased veterans buried at sea.
At 11 a.m., the Council will hold services at the World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War Monument at Memorial Town Hall.
The flag, which is flown at half staff on Memorial Day, will be raised at 12 noon. Speeches will follow.
