Mildred L. Franklin, 86

Mildred L. (Hanks) Franklin, 86, died Jan. 3 peacefully at her home in West Wareham surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Raymond T. Franklin. They were married for 64 years.

Born in Bratt, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Edward E. & Acora (Roach) Hanks. A longtime resident of Wareham, Mrs. Franklin also lived in Florida for 12 years, before returning to Wareham in 2008.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene in East Wareham, and was known for her cooking, especially serving her “Seven-Up Salad” at church functions. She enjoyed traveling and road trips, spending time along the Cape Cod Canal, and eating out.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas W. Franklin and his wife Agnes of Forestdale, and Gary A. Franklin and his wife Loren of Wareham; a daughter, Gloria L. Honl of Wareham; two sisters, Eulene McLaine of Flomaton, AL, and Grace Jerkins of Robertsdale, AL; 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene, 6 Rogers Ave., Wareham. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham.
