More than 100 toys collected at PCT Credit Union

Dec 16, 2014

Collecting more than 100 toys in three weeks is pretty good when you’ve never tried it before.

That’s how the employees at PCT Credit Union feel after their inaugural Christmas Toy Drive ended on Dec. 13.

“We do a gift swap every year and thought this year we could do something to benefit the whole community,” said Cori Hall, marketing coordinator with PCT.

Hall said the employees formed a “Christmas Committee.” and came up with the idea for a toy drive. They then decided that the Dick Melloni Youth Foundation would recieve the toys.

This is the 22nd year the Foundation will distribute toys to local children from a range of different toy drives.

The toys were collected from the 15 employees, 10 board members as well as the general public and there was a wide variety under the tree.

Hall said one woman came in with a tricycle that was only used once by her grandson that she didn’t want to see go to waste.

“We’re glad we had such a good turnout for our first year,” Hall said.

PCT Credit Union was originally a teacher’s only credit union that opened up to the public in 2006. Hall said the last few years the credit union has been trying to get more involved in the community.

“We definitely want to make it an annual event,” Hall said.
