Music students shine on WCTV

For several of Grace Morrison’s students, hard work is paying off.

Morrison, a Wareham-based singer songwriter, and a group of her music students performed live from the WCTV studios on Main Street for all of Wareham to see Thursday evening.

“I tried to get as many of the students to collaborate with each other as possible, which was very successful,” said Morrison, who said. “I hope we get to do it again!”

She said the goal of the show, which was organized by Mantis, was to have a fun holiday celebration where some of her students could showcase her talents. Mantis is the host of a online program called “On Stage with Mantis,” and is know for showcasing local artists.

Morrison said she teaches at both her home studio in Wareham called GCM Music Studio and at Rick’s Music World in Raynham.

Among the performers was Mikaylee McEwan from Wareham, who sang a song in French.

“She was a really good sport,” said Morrison, who said the two shared the same French teacher, Colleen Kirby, at Wareham High. “I forced her to sing in a foreign language.”

“Shout out to Ms. Kirby,” said McEwan prior to her performance.

Several other young boys and girls performed on the show, as well.

Morrison said she’d be taking the group to sing to residents at Forest View Nursing Home on Christmas Eve. She also thanked friend John Farrell who came through last minute to do work the soundboards for the performances.
