NAMES ADDED: Recognize these Wareham Vikings from 1950?

This is the Wareham Vikings football team from 1950. Recognize anybody?

"This year was considered to be a building year," said John Decas, #66 and in his junior year in the photo. "But we went on to be undefeated."

Coach Clem Spillane — of Spillane Field fame — was a new coach that year, Decas said.

"We were a laughing stock of football up until Coach Spillane came in," he noted.

Spillane helped generate interest in the sport, and after every win — and remember, they were undefeated — there was a parade down Route 6 onto Main Street, Decas recalled.

"This created a dynasty for many, many years in football," said Decas.
