Wareham residents are now welcome to enter the New Bedford Arts and Cultural Emporium mural competition for a chance to win a cash prize and an opportunity to paint a mural.

Artists can submit up to three five-inch-by-7-inch thumbnail sketches of original work. Applicants must be 18 years or older and pay a $25 fee.

Begin submitting work Monday, July 10 through Friday, August 25. 

Five finalists will be selected. Each will receive a $300 stipend toward materials and supplies for the mural. Cash prizes for the final muralists winners will be: $1,200 for first place; $750 for second place; $350 for third place; and $200 for fourth and fifth place.

Murals will be painted on the weekend of October 6-8 and an award ceremony will be held Saturday, October 14 at the Kilburn Mill.
