Aug 1, 2011

Wareham resident Colbey Santos has been named the new Wareham High School boys and girls cross country coach.

Santos attended Wareham High School from 2000 to 2002 and graduated from Tabor Academy in 2005. He then attended the University of New Hampshire and graduated in 2010 with a bachelor's of science degree.

Santos participated in basketball and cross country during high school and college. After graduating from college, he played for the Boston Celtics summer development team.

Santos currently serves as the Alternative Learning Session teacher assistant at Wareham High.

Wareham Athletic Director Marc Loranger said “We are excited to have someone of the caliber of Colbey Santos on board," said Wareham High School athletic director Marc Loranger. "He is from the town and understands our students and he cares about kids. Colbey will be charged with resurrecting a program that has seen a decline in participation over the years.”

Any Wareham High School student who would like to compete in cross country should email Coach Santos at colb24@gmail.com or meet with him at the fall sports "Meet the Coaches" night on Thursday,  August 18 at 7 p.m. at Wareham High School. Practice begins on Wednesday, August 24. Students must have a recent physical on file in order to participate.
