Reverend Dan Bernier will be the new rector at the Church of the Good Shepherd, on High Street, beginning December 1.

Rev. Bernier will be bringing his wife Leslie and three-year-old daughter Katie to join the congregation.

Rev. Bernier comes from a military family, and traveled around the world as a child.  He lived in Turkey, Okinawa, Japan, California, Louisiana, and Nebraska.  His family was very active in the Roman Catholic Church.  In high school, Rev. Bernier felt that God was calling him to the priesthood but also felt he was not yet prepared to pursue this calling.  He enlisted in the Air Force, assigned to Spangahlem Air Force Base in Germany and Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.

In April 2005, Rev. Bernier was received as a priest in the Episcopal Church, with a call to be the Vicar of Christ Church in Portsmouth, N.H.
