October is Spooky Month at the library
October is Spooky Month at the Wareham Free Library, and there will be a number of macabre events to celebrate.
On October 3 at 7 p.m. at the Spinney branch, writer Lynda Ames will be on hand to discuss her book about a local murder mystery called; In the Dark Woods of Wareham: Murder of the Eggman.
On October 11 at 7 p.m. at the main branch of the library, Tim Weisberg, host of the radio show Spooky Southcoast will present "Ghosts of the Southcoast." Weisberg will delve into local ghost stories, including the presence of British loyalists in Fearing Tavern.The library recommends this event for teenagers and adults.
On October 18 at 3 p.m. at the main branch, the library will face a zombie invasion. Kids 12 and older can learn how to transform themselves into the undead through the magic of make-up. Also on October 18 at the main branch, award winning storyteller David Mello will try to scare the pants off people at 6:60 p.m. with his "Tales Told in the Dark," presentation. This event is recommended for adults and for teens 12 and older.
October 23 at the main branch at 6:30 p.m. the library will hold a "Spooky Story Night," which will include a "Pumpkin Story walk." This event is kid friendly, and children ages 2 through 8 are welcome.
October 27 at the Spinney branch at 3:30 there will be "Spooky Stories," and crafts. This event is recommended for kids ages 1 through 7, although older siblings are welcome to attend.
October 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the main branch at 6:30 p.m. there will be a Halloween oriented recital called "Musical trick or Treat."
