Olympic Pizza and Subs opens tomorrow
Peter Zaifides has waited over a month to open his restaurant, and he will waste no time getting Olympic Pizza and Subs up and running, having secured a license that will enable the restaurant to cook, prepare, and serve food.
The Common Victualler's License was granted unanimously by the Board of Selectmen during their meeting tonight.
Though all the paperwork was in order, Selectmen Judith Whiteside asked two questions of Zaifides. The first: how old he was when he came to the United States, and the second: how much English could he speak?
Born and raised in Greece, Zaifides and his family immigrated to America when Zaifides was only ten years old. He couldn't speak a single word on English back then.
"My dad bought a place in Taunton and I've been in the business ever since," he said. "I've been in the business about 40 plus years."
Zaifides says he is both excited and nervous about the opening tomorrow.
"You get to the point where it was a little overwhelming down the road, but, we pulled it through," said Zaifides.
The restaurant is located on 2605 Cranberry Highway. See their specials and menu items at www.olympicpizzaofwareham.com.
