The Buzzards Bay Coalition’s Onset Bay Center, 186 Onset Ave., will celebrate its second annual Community Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 13.

That day, guests will get a free sample of the many outdoor activities that the Onset Bay Center offers. There will be sailboat tours of Onset Bay, as well as kayaks, paddleboards, rowboats and canoes available to rent for no charge. 

“It’s so everyone knows what we have,” said Stuart Downie, Buzzards Bay Coalition vice president of outdoor exploration. “All the free programming that we do, all the projects that we run for the local schools, businesses and youth.” 

The Community Day will also feature a self-guided story walk, beach games, sand castles and a children’s art activity with Dianne Enzian of Dianne’s Art Farm. 

At the same time, Community Day celebrators can learn about the Buzzards Bay Coalition’s history, summer programs, events and conservation work. 

“It’s to open up Onset Bay,” Downie said, “and say ‘Hey, the weather’s good, let’s start using it.’”
