Onset Family Carnival to come Aug. 7, or Aug. 5

Aug 1, 2016

Cotton candy, rides, games, and lights: they'll all be back this weekend during the Onset Family Carnival hosted by the Onset Bay Association.

The fliers around town may say the Onset Family Carnival is coming on Aug. 7, but it may be starting on Aug. 5.

"As of now, they're moving in on the seventh," said the association's president Kat Jones. "We're trying to iron it out."

Jones urges residents to either chime in on the Facebook page or call the office for updates at 508-295-7072.

The carnival is set to run from Aug. 7 to Aug. 12, between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. at Lopes Playground in Onset.

Jones said if the carnival moves into town on Aug. 5, a portion of the proceeds will go toward the Onset Blues Festival.

Cushing Amusement company organizes the carnival and "takes care of everything," including getting insurance, set up and clean up.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Wareham Boys and Girls Club and to the Onset Bay Association.

Jones said the carnival will clear before the Cape Verdean Festival on Aug. 13.
