The Onset Fire District will hold its annual meeting on Monday, May 19 at the Dudley L. Brown VFW on Gibbs Ballpark Road in Onset. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, May 20, the district will be holding elections from 4 to 8 p.m. in the same location for one three-year term on the Prudential Committee and one three-year term on the Board of Water Commissioners.

Pamela Pike and Mark Maxim are the two candidates running for the open seat on the Prudential Committee. The seat is open following the resignation of longtime Prudential Committee member Jovina Dean.

Peter Murphy and Brenda Eckstrom are running for the spot on the Board of Water Commissioners. Eckstrom, the incumbent, could not be reached for comment. Go here to read an interview with Murphy.

One of the biggest articles on the fire district warrant (which can be viewed here on pages 16-18) is the proposed purchase of a new ladder truck to replace the 43-year-old truck currently in service at the fire department. To read our story on the ladder truck go here.
