Onset's Rezendes named Little East Player of the Year
The awards keep piling up for Onset’s Jordan Rezendes.
On Wednesday, Rezendes was named the 2015 Little East Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year for his play on the court with the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He was also named All-Little East Conference First Team.
In February, the junior, who is in his first year at UMass, was also named the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Division III Men's Basketball Player of the Week and earned a spot on the coveted D3Hoops.com Team of the Week for a his record-breaking, 51 point performance against Keene State College.
It’s only the eighth time a UMass baller has earned the honor of Player of the Year, with the last being Dan Holbrook in 2008. His 23.2 points per game was the third highest scoring average in the school’s history. He also averaged 5.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, shooting 46.2 percent (210-for-455) from the field, 37.1 percent (52-for-140) from behind the 3-point arc, and 82.9 percent (131-for-158) at the foul line.
