Pamela Wakefield, 81
Pamela L. (D'Amico) Wakefield, 81, passed away on Jan. 27 surrounded by her family at her home in West Wareham after a long illness. She was the wife of Carl D. Wakefield who passed away two days later on Jan. 29. They were married for 58 years.
Born in Hamden, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Frank T. and Louise (Marcucio) D’Amico. A previous resident of New York, she moved to Wareham in 1967.
Along with her husband, she co-owned Carbo’s Restaurant in Wareham and she also owned and operated Secrets Lingerie Shop with locations in Wareham and Taunton. Mrs. Wakefield was a member of the American Business Women’s Association.
She is survived by her daughter, Valerie W. Bianco and her husband Marc of W. Wareham; her son, Steven C. Wakefield and his wife Vivienne of Mt. Vernon, New York; her sister, Louise A. Whalen of Middletown, Connecticut, and her grandchildren, Jordan M. Wakefield, Alexander M. Bianco and Benjamin C. Bianco. She is also survived by her “other daughter,” Leanne M. Hunt, of Wareham, her husband Robert and their sons, Hayden and Harrison Hunt, and many other devoted nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, the late Brian K. Wakefield and her siblings, the late Thomas F. D’Amico and Maria A. Steffanos.
Her family was her greatest joy. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Known as “Mimi,” she always had an open door for her grandsons, who adored her, as well as their friends. She enjoyed music and dancing to big band music with her husband in their earlier years.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Agawam Cemetery, Wareham. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service.
