Photography show opens at The Gallery at WCTV
The Gallery at WCTV presents an exhibit and fundraising sale of fine-art photographs by Steven M. Becker, which depict landscapes, seascapes and more intimate scenes of Wareham, New England, and the Oregon coast.
The show will run from December 1 through January 15, and it is Becker’s first show in Wareham, where he spends his weekends and vacations. Twenty percent of every sale during this show will be donated to WCTV.
“WCTV offers a great opportunity for everyone to participate in the community," Becker said. “It gives us all a chance to share our interests, knowledge and skills, and to stay informed. And with its wonderful gallery, WCTV offers artists in the community a great place to showcase their work. It’s a resource I’m happy to support.”
Becker has been showing publicly since the 1970s when his distinctive, semi-abstracted black-and-white images were featured in Chicago art galleries. A resident of New England since 1981, he has recently exhibited in juried shows in the Boston area.
Becker uses a Nikon digital SLR camera with prime lenses rather than zoom lenses to capture the highest possible levels of luminance, clarity and color. Images are processed in Photoshop on Apple computers, using a challenging methodology practiced by a very limited number of photographers today.
All images are museum quality, printed with archival pigment inks on the finest papers, using an exceedingly accurate large format printer. Framing materials are acid free, and UV glass protects the images. A well-cared-for print may last for 200 years or more.
The Gallery at WCTV is located at 505 Main St., Wareham. To schedule a visit, call 508-273-2340.
