Phyllis M. (McGurr) LaCasse, 80, of Onset, formerly of Brockton, died November 6 at home. She was the widow of the late Arthur A. LaCasse and the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Devlin) McGurr.

She was born in Boston and grew up in Dorchester. She lived in Brockton for many years before moving to Onset in 2002.

Mrs. LaCasse was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Onset. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, doll-making, cooking, and gardening.

She was a Gold Star Mother.

Survivors include 3 sons, Michael Strafello of Onset, Joseph F. Maguire of Brockton and Henry “Hank” Strafello of New Bedford; a sister, Barbara Burke of Quincy; a brother, Charles McGurr of Dedham.  Another son, PFC Charles F. Strafello died in 1968 in Vietnam.Two sisters, Dorothy DeFillipo and Mary Westberg, predeceased her.

Her funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, November 14 from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Onset. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
