Fresh food and a relaxing atmosphere are what it’s all about at Piper Beau’s, a new restaurant that brings fresh food and a hint of the beach to Main Street in Wareham.
“I want people to feel like, [even] if it’s 5 degrees out, that they’re on vacation,” said co-owner Nick Jeppi.

The restaurant and raw bar is a family affair.  Jeppi and co-owner and wife Alexa named the restaurant after their 11-month-old daughter, and the fourth-generation seafood dealers have family connections to Nick’s Fish House in Baltimore and Crabby Daddy’s in Houston.  They know seafood.

“I go to Providence, Rhode Island every other day to pick up crab meat,” said Jeppi. “There’s nothing frozen here. Everything’s made from scratch.”

In fact, the crab has already won accolades.  Executive chef William Hughes III serves the crabcakes he perfected at his restaurant Luca’s Cafe in Baltimore.  The recipe made Baltimore Magazine’s list of best crab cakes last July.

But non-seafood fans needn’t fret: the diverse menu appeals to all types.

“You can get everything from a hamburger to a whole fish,” Jeppi said.

The bar offers similar variety: beer, Jeppi’s award-winning red sangria, and pirate juice from Barbados - a mixture involving a number of rums and 12 different fruits soaking in a large jar on the bar.

“I traveled the Caribbean looking for the most awesome drink recipes,” Jeppi said.
Jeppi said he and his wife fell in love with Wareham during summer visits with friends Demetrios and George Kalkanis, managers of Minerva’s Pizzeria on Main Street. Demetrios is also a manager at Piper Beau’s. The Jeppis moved to Wareham from Baltimore in October.

“[Main Street is a] great location. We just thought it was a great opportunity,” Jeppi said.
Jeppi said he and his team are working out the operational kinks in time for a grand opening in May.

“We want that perfect level of customer satisfaction and perfect product,” he said.
