Planning Board endorses Main Street lot division

Mar 14, 2022

A house and other structures on a Main Street parcel of land will be demolished before the land is divided into four separate lots, the Planning Board endorsed at its Monday night meeting.

The project, submitted by Zoning Board of Appeals Chairman Nazih Elkallassi, involves splitting the land at 434 Main St. into four separate lots. One home sits on the land now, which G.A.F. Engineering representative Brian Grady said is “structurally unsound.”

The current plan, Grady said, is to raze the residence and other structures on the property, including a shed, and then split the property. The land in question spans about 1.75 acres.

Planning Board members said they couldn’t see any problems with the plan.

“It has area, it has frontage, it has access,” chair Michael King said, referencing minimum lot requirements for the endorsement.

Associate member Jane Gleason called the project “pretty straightforward.”

The project was up for endorsement as a approval-not-required item, and it passed 3-0-2 after little discussion. Member Carl Schulz was absent from Monday night’s meeting, and member Sam Corbitt abstained.
