Play ball! Wareham Little League kicks off season

Apr 21, 2013

Wareham Little League kicked off its 61st season on Sunday with its annual Opening Day parade and ceremony.

The parade took the players from the Tremont Nail Factory complex to the league's fields on Charge Pond Road. It even featured special guests from the Wareham High School baseball team.

"They marched with their old teams!" Wareham Little League President (and newly-elected Selectman) Patrick Tropeano announced in thanking the high school team for participating.

The ceremony began with a moment of silence for the victims of the Boston Marathon attack, and then a sing-along of "Sweet Caroline" and the "Star-Spangled Banner."

The teams and coaches were all introduced, and then players took the field to play ball!
