Police bust three at Silver Lake Motel
Wareham police arrested three people in a mid-blizzard drug bust early Thursday morning at the Silver Lake Motel, recovering substances consistent with cocaine and marijuana, numerous glassine bags, multiple cell phones and cash.
William Black, 19, of 17 Camardo Dr., Wareham, Antone Gutierrez, 18, of 36 Swifts Beach Rd., Apartment # 30, and a 16-year-old juvenile female were charged with Trafficking in Cocaine and Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute.
According to the police report, Wareham officers responded to the Silver Lake Motel, #3026 Cranberry Hwy., after the motel clerk reported a disturbance in room #135.
When police knocked on the room's door, they heard loud noises and people scurrying around inside. Patrol Officer Joseph Cardoza went to the rear of the building and observed several items being thrown out a window. After knocking for several minutes, police were met at the door by Black.
Gutierrez and the juvenile female were inside the room, along with what police described as numerous glassine bags, multiple cell phones, and cash. Police also observed a partially open window in the bathroom. Police retrieved glassine bags lying on top of the snow within a few feet of the open window. One bag contained a white rock substance consistent with cocaine and another contained a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana.
Black and Gutierrez are currently being held at the Plymouth County House of Correction on $10,000.00 cash bail each and are scheduled for a pretrial hearing on March 3, 2010. The juvenile was released and is scheduled for a pretrial hearing at a later date.
Interim Police Chief Richard Stanley commended these dedicated officers for their efforts in making another major drug arrest.
Chief Stanley also noted that the Silver Lake Motel has been the scene of numerous arrests and disturbances over the past several years, and the Wareham Police have been responding to that location on a regular basis.
"We will continue to keep the heat on all individuals who use these establishments as safe havens for illegal activity," stated Chief Stanley.
