Wareham Police responded to 20 overdoses in February, two of which proved to be fatal.

During many of the incidents, communication officers provided life-saving instructions over the phone. Narcan was also used to save lives at many of the incidents.

In January, police responded to 11 overdoses, three of which were fatal.

“We work seamlessly with our public safety partners, Wareham EMS, Wareham Fire, and Onset Fire on these calls. Our officers have a great working relationship with them which benefits Wareham,” said Police Chief John Walcek.

Police ask that anyone who knows of someone who is in danger of being an overdose victim to contact the Wareham Police Department, Detective Division. The call will remain confidential, and the detectives will arrange for the person to get help and services. They can be reached at 508-295-1206.
