The Wareham Free Library offered a midday alternative to the usual New Year's eve party Wednesday, Dec. 31, celebrating with those who might not be able to make it to midnight. The event, Noon Years Eve, brings in the new year at 12 p.m.
In the event's fourth year, library Director Patrick Marshall said it's been fun to see how many people attend.
"You can celebrate at a reasonable hour and then you can go to bed at a reasonable hour too," Marshall said.
With varying different ages participating in coloring, games and a balloon drop at noon, the library was filled with the sounds of upbeat songs and party horns.
"It really brings out everyone to do something family friendly," he said.
Part of the celebration was Remi Santos-Tropeano and her mom Alexis Santos. Although Christmas just passed, Remi said she can't wait for Santa to come back as she was still excited about the Barbie Dreamhouse she received under the tree.
She was also excited to be celebrating with her mom.
"I'm here to be with my family," she said.
Taking a break from all of the dancing with DJ Ooch, Quinn Litchfield and her mom Kaytelynn Ringer were cozied up with New Years-themed coloring pages. Using her favorite colors of pink and purple while she colored, Quinn said she's excited for her baby sister to turn one in the next year.
Though, the balloon drop may be the only plans Quinn has for New Year's Eve. Midnight is the goal, but her mom said she never stays up that late anyway.
"That's when we all take a long nap," Quinn said.
As the countdown commenced and dozens of colorful balloons filled the hallway of the library, some remained to dance like Kelsey Gropman. She could be found busting a move to her favorite songs from "Kpop Demon Hunters" which she was happy played twice during the event.
With the new year on the horizon, Kelsey has travel plans she'd like to complete.
"I really hope that I can go to LA again, oh my gosh LA was really fun," Kelsey said.
