PTA holds wine glass paint night
The clinking of wine glasses filled Redman Hall Thursday evening, as 55 parents took part in the Middle School PTA’s wine glass paint night.
The PTA put on the event in order to raise funds for the High School’s PA system, and had High School art teacher Amy Dion leading the night. This is the second year the event has been held, but, last year, the paint night used traditional canvases.
Though she still hoped the event would raise at least $1,000, and the PTA “had a good response,” event Chairwoman Carla Troupe said there were more people last year. In combination with the raffles last year, the event raised $1,800.
“I feel like the thrill of paint nights is dying down a little bit,” Troupe said. “Painting the glasses was kind of exciting for a lot of people, and might have brought in a lot of people who may not have come, if it were just a regular paint night.”
Troupe also said the PTA was not prepared, space-wise, for the number of people who wanted to participate last year, and there wasn’t enough room for the necessary easels and canvases.
In addition to ticket sales, the PTA also held a raffle for about 20 different bottles of wine, all of which were donated by local businesses and residents.
