Pumpkin paddlers parade around Wicket’s Island

Oct 29, 2022

The Buzzards Bay Coalition in Onset hosted their first ever paddle parade on Oct.29. Participants dressed in costumes embarked on a journey around Wicket’s Island by kayak, paddle board, or boat.

“I think I have frostbite,” yelled one small kayaker. But the chilly weather did not stop paddlers from showing off their festive attire.

From lobsters to witches, paddlers strutted their Halloween best and some even decorated their boat.

The Weldon Family went all out with their lobster costumes.

“We wanted to do a sea life theme,” said Lynn Weldon.

Bay Adventures Manager Laura Lamar said she felt excited to see so many people out on the water.

“This is for the Onset community and something to get people out on the water,” said Lamar.

The Buzzards Bay Coalition hopes to host a costume and boat decorating contest next Halloween.
