Reading greens for reading
There's reading, and then there's reading greens. Those at the Wareham Free Public Library Saturday night had the chance to do a bit of both.
Dozens of residents came out to hit the links inside the Wareham Free Library for the Friends of the Wareham Library annual mini golf event.
The event features 18 holes that twisted and turned around book shelves and through the library. The holes are sponsored and decorated by local businesses and organizations, such as the Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank, Kool Kone and the Council on Aging. In 2014, the library lost most of its funding, and is currently open on a more limited basis.
"We were well under par," said Council on Aging Board of Directors Chairman Peter Dunlop. He said if par was 72, his foursome shot about a 64.
"It was a good turnout," said Friends of the Wareham Library President Priscilla Porter. "Everybody seemed to have a good time, I heard a lot of laughter."
This was the first year the Library held an adults only mini golf night. The golfing continued Sunday with play for all ages from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
