A reason to cheer: Wareham Tiger Cheer Athletics win in Ocean City

The Wareham Tigers Cheer Athletics program rounded out its season with success, as Team INSPIR3 earned First Place at a U.S. Finals competition in Ocean City, Maryland.

The program sent two of its travel teams, INSPIR3 and SPIRIT, to the competition, which was held April 20 and 21. INSPIR3 took first place at Level 3, and SPIRIT took third at Level 1.

“We were not expecting to win whatsoever,” said Sonja DeLucia, the head coach of the Level 3 team. “It felt like we were the underdogs all season.

This year was the first year Team INSPIR3 competed at Level 3, which involved a lot of learning, as each level requires the team to perform different skills, said DeLucia.

The program offers competitive recreational cheer, with its travel teams competing both locally and nationally. It tries to travel for its events to get kids more competition, said DeLucia.

The teams have practices and events throughout the year, culminating in a calendar of competition throughout the spring.

Currently, the program is running clinics, with evaluations for the 2024-25 season to occur in the coming months. For more information, visit www.warehamtigerscheerathletics.com.
