Recent arrests: OUI, shoplifting

Wareham Police made several arrests on Tuesday and Wednesday for offenses like operating under the influence and shoplifting.

At about 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, officers responded to a car accident on Little Harbor Road. The driver of the car, a 21-year-old Westwood man, reportedly hit a pole head-on, causing wires to fall down. 

According to police, the man was acting erratically, and seemed to be impaired at the scene. 

He was transported to the hospital, and has been summoned to court for operating under the influence of liquor, operating to endanger, and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

On Wednesday, July 29, officers arrested a 58-year-old Wareham man in the parking lot of Cranberry Plaza around 4 p.m. The man is suspected of stealing from Ocean State Job Lot. 

Over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday, police arrested at least four people on active warrants.
