Red Sox announcer behind the microphone at Gatemen opening
Boston Red Sox public announcer Carl Beane will be calling the Cape Cod Baseball League Opener at Spillane Field when the Gatemen take on the Hyannis Harbor Hawks on Friday, June 10 at 7:00pm.
“It’s a dream come true by finally announcing a league game at a site of a Cape Cod Baseball League game and I am looking forward to meeting everyone in Wareham," said Beane, who has announced the last few Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star games at Fenway Park.
Trooper Dan Clark “The Singing Trooper” will sing his rendition of the National Anthem at the season opener.
“The Cape Cod League always reminds me of the Field of Dreams movie with young baseball players out there for the love of the game and dreams in their hearts," said Clark. It doesn’t get more cliché if I say this is how baseball should be…for the players and the fans! I look forward to performing out National Anthem for another great Cape Cod League Baseball season!! Play Ball!"
Opening day, on Friday, is also “Red Shirt Friday” throughout the Cape Cod Baseball League in honor of our military personnel across the globe, attendees are asked to sport a red shirt.
