Reminders from the Town Clerk
Town Clerk Mary Ann Silva has several reminders for dog owners and voters.
Dog licenses: The Town Clerk's Office is now selling licenses for 2012. As of December 31, 2011 dog tags are no longer valid.
Anyone who cannot come to Town Hall in person may relicense through the mail, so long as your pet's rabies certificate is up to date. Simply provide the Town Clerk's Office with a self-addressed, stamped envelope and a check made payable to the Town of Wareham.
If the dog is spayed or neutered the license fee is $10. If the dog is unaltered, the fee is $13. We need proof that the dog is spayed or neutered if it is not noted on the rabies certificate.
Any dog owner who is at least 70 years older, with proof of age, will receive one free license for his or her household. Late fees go into effect on April 1, 2012.
Inactive voters: The Secretary of State's Office requires that all town clerks purge their voter list of any voter who has not continually voted and answered a census every year in the Town of Wareham. Over the past several weeks, the Wareham clerk's office has been mailing cards so that registered voters slated for the purge will be able to inform the clerk that they continue to reside in Wareham and are interested in remaining registered voters.
Polling place changes: All voters currently assigned to vote in Precincts Two and Three should make note of the locations of those two precincts. No longer will anyone be voting at the VFW in Onset. Precinct Two is now located at the Ethel E. Hammond School at 13 Highland Avenue in Onset, and Precinct Three is now located at the Minot Forest Elementary School on Minot Avenue in East Wareham.
New precinct map: Voters should note changes in the town's precinct map. Effective December 31, the boundaries will be changing. It appears that all Precincts will be affected by this change.
