Richard V. Crocker, Jr., 66

May 28, 2023

WAREHAM - Richard V. Crocker, Jr., 66, of Wareham passed away peacefully at home on May 24, 2023, in the arms of his loving wife, children, mother-in-law and Pastor. Rick was born and raised in Wareham, the son of the late Richard V. Crocker Sr. and Laura Harlow Crocker.

Rick had a passion for living and working on the coast. He loved fishing and spent many years working with local deep-sea fishermen. His love of the sea was shared by his family, leaving a lifetime of memories fishing in Onset Bay, the Canal and off the marshes of Main Street. He was a dedicated sports fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox, and would always attend the famous Wareham/Bourne football game every Thanksgiving.

Rick loved cooking from a very early age and began working in the kitchens of restaurants throughout the area, including many local seafood spots. He appreciated the creativity behind a tasty dish and fed friends and family with recipes filled with love. He fed his family with a lovingly created hot breakfast on weekday mornings before work and school. He would often surprise his wife and daughters with a gourmet meal awaiting them. He was a devoted father and husband and made each family occasion and holiday feel special. His child-like joy brought Christmas alive, and his love for others created beautiful memories that will stay alive in his family for years to come. Rick loved others with his whole heart and soul, and was a joy to spend time with, no matter the occasion.

He was a passionate member of The Bridge Church in Onset and loved every church member as extended family. He was involved in many of the church’s programs and events, including serving on the board, running the audio system, the bread ministry for years, nights of hospitality, cooking for large potluck dinners, and even won best clam chowder in a chowder cook off. His big heart and loving soul were a blessing for anyone he met. Despite his declining health the past year, his love and joy never wavered.

Rick is survived by his wife Teri Crocker of Wareham, his daughters Katie Crocker of Wareham, Kristen Marshall of Stoughton, Nicole Johnson of Bridgeport, CT, and granddaughter Laura Johnson of New Haven, CT. He also leaves behind a brother, William Wheeler, of Phoenix, AZ, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Chapman Funerals and Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 4 – 6 PM. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3rd at The Bridge Church, 15 Highland Ave., Onset, MA 02558 at 1:00 PM.
