WAREHAM - Rita Evelyn (Silva) DiBurgo, 85, of Framingham, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 4, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Wareham, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Julia (Pina) Silva.

Rita was born and raised in Wareham and graduated from Wareham High School.

She worked for Action Collection Agency of Middleborough for many years.

She is survived by her children, Dennis DiBurgo of Sudbury and Dawna Penalba of California; her daughter-in-law, Beverley Mason and granddaughters, Kate Mason-DiBurgo, Tess Mason-DiBurgo, and Alexandra Mason-DiBurgo all of Framingham. She is also survived by her brothers, Casimiro “Casey” Silva, August “Augie” Silva, Raymond Silva, Robert Silva, as well as her sister-in-law Carole Silva, her niece Pat Diniz, and many other nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers, the late Avelino “Lovie” Silva, John Silva, and Antone “Tony” DaSilva, as well as her sister Frances (Silva) Leighton.

Rita was known for her great sense of humor, her generosity, and the love she had for her family. She enjoyed spending time with loved ones, especially her granddaughters. She lived with her dear friend Thelma and her brother Raymond for many years in Brockton. Together, they enjoyed making cookies for Greek Easter and Christmas. After surviving an accident that permanently immobilized her, Rita never lost her sense of humor or determination to live life to the fullest. She fought breast cancer and won at 84 years old. During her years in the nursing home, she enjoyed visits from her family, enjoying her favorite foods brought by her family, watching Hallmark movies, and going home to be with her closest family for the holidays. Rita will be remembered as the best Nana to her granddaughters and will live on in their countless memories with her.

Rita had many amazing caregivers over her years living in nursing homes, and her family expresses their deepest appreciation to each and every one of them.

Visiting hours are from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Chapman Funerals and Cremations - WAREHAM, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 94 High St. Wareham, at 11 AM. Interment will be at a later date.
