Road cleared, power restored following downed electrical pole
A downed pole at the gateway sign closed a portion of Cranberry Highway Tuesday, Dec. 9 causing power outages and detours to the area.
Wareham Police Department Lieutenant Bryan Whalen said the accident occurred around 7:20 a.m. on Tuesday, the cause of the accident is yet to be determined. The outage and road closure lasted until 12:58 p.m.
Massachusetts Department of Transportation was directing traffic in the area. Rosebrook Way in front of the Mobil Gas Station to Elm Street in front of the Treemont Nail Factory were closed to traffic with the public urged to seek alternate routes.
"The Wareham Police Department actually recieved damage as well in our parking lot," Whalen said. "It took off the service from our garage and fell in our parking lot as well."
Running on generators, the department is looking into the extent of the damages.
