Ronald Aseltine, 49

Feb 28, 2017

Ronald A. Aseltine, 49, of Onset, passed away on Feb. 26 at the Tufts New England Medical Center, Boston. He was the husband of Eve-Maree (Lynch) Aseltine and the son of the late Bertha (McPherson) Aseltine.

Ron grew up in Millis, where he was a graduate of Millis High School and a volunteer firefighter on the Millis Fire Department for many years. Ron’s daughter Nicole was born while he lived in Millis, and eventually he and his wife moved to Buzzards Bay and then to Onset in 2001.

Ron’s career began with DCR as a seasonal firefighter at District 3, Freetown State Forest in 1999 and before transferring to District 4, Foxboro in 2000. Ron's passion for wildland firefighting drove him to eventually become a full-time patrolman out of Carlisle, District 6 prior to becoming the District Fire Warden for Plymouth County, District 2 in 2007 before leaving DCR in 2014. Ron relocated and also became a dedicated member of the Onset Fire Department, again maintaining his love for being a call firefighter. During his early years in DCR, Ron mobilized on several engine strike teams to wildland fires in Wyoming, Montana, Texas and Florida.

Ron was a fun-loving guy whose favorite things were his immediate family, his extended firefighter family and his many friends. He loved to just hang out, ride his prized Harley Davidson, and visit his tattoo artist for some new ink. Ron was the life of the party no matter where he was, whether it was the fire station, a family gathering, or on one of the many camping or cruise excursions he enjoyed so much. Ron was one of those people who everyone just loved to love; he made you laugh so hard you cried! He was also a huge Patriots fan; he couldn’t wait for the football season to start so that he could cheer his team on every weekend, especially during the playoffs, and Super Bowl Championship games.

Ron leaves behind his wife, Eve-Maree (Lynch) Aseltine; his daughters Nicole Aseltine, and her boyfriend Cory Webb of Carver, and Alicia Fournier and her husband T.J. of Auburn, Maine, and his son David Connors and his wife Melissa of Ashland; his sisters Diane Powers and her husband Keith of Millis, Deb Nasuti and her husband Larry of Wrentham, and Paula Nicholson and her husband Paul of Franklin; his grandchildren, Devon, Tony, Rilee, Jameson and Rowan; his nephews and nieces, Keith, Casey, Sara, Jesse and Cole and Kyle.

Ron’s passing will leave a huge hole in many lives, but all who knew him are fortunate to have had him, his love, and his incredible sense of humor for as long as we did.

Visiting hours will be on Friday, March 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham.

Funeral services will also be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 4.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Station Fire Memorial Foundation, 78 Wilbur Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920 or the American Diabetes Foundation at www.diabetes.org.
