Rosebrook Place project moves forward
A.D. Makepeace is moving forward with its development of the Rosebrook Business Park. During Tuesday’s Board of Selectmen meeting, Makepeace was granted two liquor licenses for the complex’s proposed restaurant and separate inn and conference center.
Rosebrook Place will be located at 2472 Cranberry Highway. In addition to the restaurant and hotel, the mixed-use development will include a fitness center, offices, and a bank.
A.D. Makepeace Senior Vice President, James Kane said the next step for the company will be to obtain approval from the state’s Highway Department and other state zoning authorities for the project.
Once the construction gets underway the project could foster the creation of 600 new jobs in Wareham, Kane told the Selectmen.
Rosebrook Place is the second phase of Makepeace’s Rosebrook development. The company broke ground on Rosebrook Park, a 68,000 square foot medical-office building to be occupied by Southcoast Health System, last spring.
In other town business, the Planning Department is at the forefront of forming a task force to review and amend the town’s Sign By-Law.
The upcoming reconstruction of Route 6/28 by MassHighway will impact signage for multiple businesses, according to Town Planner John Charbonneau.
The task force will likely consist of Charbonneau, the Director of Inspectional Services, the Community and Economic Development Authority director, the director of Municipal Maintenance, and a representative from the Planning Board, the Zoning Board of Appeals, and the Board of Selectmen. Final decisions on the members of the task force will be made during upcoming Selectmen meetings.
Charbonneau also announced an upcoming joint public hearing of the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals to discuss the relocation of Walmart from Cranberry Highway in East Wareham to Tobey Road in West Wareham. That meeting will be held on February 15 at 7 p.m. in the lower-level cafeteria of Town Hall, located on Marion Road.
